The Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Karachi, offers a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programme in Chemical Engineering, established formally in 2007. The programme is accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) level II, and fulfills all the requirements of Outcome-based Education system implemented under the Washington Accord. It has a well-qualified PhD (Chemical) faculty and is equipped with around 12 undergraduate and 4 research laboratories.

The department aims to provide rigorous training, combining theoretical foundations and practical lab work, in line with PEC/HEC standards. It also offers ME/MS and PhD programs in advanced research areas like nanomaterials, Sustainable energy, Bioplastic synthesis, Sustainable fuel cell synthesis etc.

The Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) was established in 1948. It is the premier national body of engineers working for the advancement of engineering profession. It has headquarters at Lahore and centres in all major cities of Pakistan as well as in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain & Tri States (New Jersey, New York and Connecticut). IEP has signed technical collaboration agreements with more than forty professional Engineering Organizations across the globe. IEP is also the member of six international/regional engineering bodies and has the honor to represent Pakistan at these forums. IEP Karachi Centre is the biggest centre of IEP.
